Key Ingredients
- Fresh orange and apple wedges: the fruit gets muddled with granulated white sugar before the rest of the ingredients get added in.
- Red wine: I recommend using a bottle of grenache or pinot noir.
- Brandy: the brandy adds a depth of flavor to the sangria.
- Orange and cranberry juices: these juices add a fruity sweetness to the drink.
- Fresh cranberries and rosemary sprigs: these are for garnish, although the scent of rosemary is one of my favorite parts about this drink! I definitely wouldn't skip it!
Prep ahead tips
This make-ahead holiday sangria is an easy holiday cocktail that is so delicious and will keep you from playing bartender all night!
Make the sangria at least one hour in advance of serving. That said, I’d recommend making it the night before to really let the flavors meld together. This is a great recipe to make ahead and simply pour into glasses when guests arrive.
Garnish suggestions
To make this drink extra festive for the holidays, I love garnishing with some fresh cranberries and a rosemary sprig. The rosemary sprig isn't just for looks, smelling it while taking a sip adds such a nice depth of flavor. Don't skip on the rosemary!
Serving suggestions
I recommend serving sangria in a big pitcher with wine glasses and ice. I have this pitcher and love it! It would be delicious served along with Sausage-Stuffed Mushrooms!
